The Importance of Education

Below is a link to an unfortunate situation that ended in an unfortunate ending. The reason I am posting it is in hopes of changing peoples mentality - a long shot I know!

If you have a moment, read the link. Below is my response, but before reading it, please take a moment to breathe, remember that people sometimes make bad choice, bad decisions, but we are all human and it's important to not quickly judge, but instead support one another. It's really as simple as just being kind.

Read Article Here!

"No species of anything should be singled out and excluded. It's a very unfortunate situation, but with proper education we can change this mentality. Just keep spreading the education about pit bulls. This mentality spreads not just with dogs, but humans too. No matter what our skin color, sex, education, religion, no one should feel excommunicated or excluded.

Also, it's not a question of whether or not he was insane. He obviously felt his situation was hopeless and was either unaware of the option to re-home, or strongly felt it was a better choice to let him go in peace than subject him to the mental anguish of going to a shelter with a high risk of euthanasia.

Instead of bashing him, consider the alternative, spread the word that there are alternatives - no kill rescues. Educate people on spay/neuter and support your local rescue or start your own!"

- Natalie Nelson

Hold a door open for someone today, smile at the cashier, say thank you, give your pet a hug, and just be aware today. Don't hold judgements and remember that most people are out there doing their best everyday whether in animal rescue, or in our day profession. Be kind.

2 Rescue Trips This Week!

What an awesome week of rescuing kitties and a pup too! Wednesday I met Laura R from Catkins Rescue in Stevens Point and picked up 10 kittens and 1 dog (9 kittens from Catkins, 1 kitten and 1 dog from Lincoln County Humane Society), then today I met a rescuer in Fond du Lac from Milwaukee to pick up a mama and 4 baby 6-week-old kittens who were rescued from a sad situation in IL. Love saving these babies and soon we'll find them new loving forever homes!

Here I am with Miss Magoo, a special needs sight-diminished shih tzu girl from Lincoln County Humane who I picked up in Stevens Point and brought to meet her adopter in Neenah!

Here is Laura from Catkins with Miss Magoo - she brought her from Lincoln County Humane in Merrill to meet me in Stevens Point - rescues working together to save lives!

Here's a poster I did that lists most of the kittens we rescued that day: 1 from Lincoln County Humane named Murphy (a shy little tabby boy, just precious), then from Catkins: Humphrey, Pippa, Ellie Mae, Butternut, Buttercup, Grayson, Norton, Boo Bear and Tiny Spirit.

Here is Miss Magoo with her new mama! They absolutely love each other!

And here are the mama and kittens we rescued today...sweet loving Emma and her precious babies, 3 girls and a boy!
